Here are some clips of original tunes of mine.
1. Hello Out There (Take 1) -
(MP3 - 522 K)
I wrote this tune over 35 years ago when I was in college. It was used as incidental music for a production of the William Saroyan play of the same name. This take was played through a Bluesblaster bullet mic modified by Mr. Downchild and a Fender Blues Junior amp.
2. Trouble With a T -
(MP3 - 545 K)
This song is based on a true incident. For about six years I was at The Savannah night club Thursday nite jams in Westlake, Ohio, as often as possible. One night a lady came in --looking and acting much as I describe in the lyric -- and, well, electrified the joint. I said to myself, "There's a song in this for sure." And there was. It gets a great reaction in the clubs, especially when I ask the patrons to sing the refrain "She's trouble!" with me.
3. Taxation Blues -
(MP3 - 336 K)
Just about anyone can relate to this song. Just like the lyric says, April 15 is the saddest day of the year for many of us.
4. Only For The Memories -
(MP3 - 233 K)
The lyric for this song is based on emotions I've had; not real events or anything that I want to happen either. Perhaps the emotions will resonate with you, too.
5. Mean Mistreater -
(MP3 - 501 K)
This is NOT a classic blues down and out moaner about a bad relationship. It's about a rich guy who may be symbolic or real, depending on your experiences, who complains about not having enough money but is rolling in dough while continuing to rip off us working folks. It's a song for our times! He's a Mean Mistreater with NO RIGHT to sing the blues! This tune is now on the CD.
6. Jammin @ Star Sound -
(MP3 - 1548 K)
Wade Nichols, ace recording tech, who remastered the other tunes on this CD invited me to his studio to jam on some samples he had. He originally gave me a bare bones backing of bass and drums and then reworked it into a whole band. I try to play a number of different riffs and use a variety of blues harp techniques. The whole tune is here so feel free to download it and enjoy. It's also on the CD.
7. Hello Out There (Take 2) -
(MP3 - 437 K)
Here's an acoustic version of the first tune on the CD. I stretched out a bit and have a couple of runs that I may never duplicate!
